Referring patients as suspected Cancer

Any patient presenting with symptoms suggesting a gynaecological cancer should be referred urgently via the fast track referral system found on the EXTRANET.  The referral is located within ‘Booking and Referral’ entitled ‘Suspected Cancer Referral Form’.

It is important when you refer patients via this route that they are fully aware that you are suspecting that they may have a CANCER, and that they are available within the next two weeks for an appointment.  You will be surprised how many patients referred via this route are not aware that you suspect cancer or are not available to attend an appointment within 2 weeks

TIMEFRAMES FOR 2WW
    Referral to appointment—within 2 weeks
Referral to treatment (if cancer still suspected) - 62 days
